Prefunding your account

Instead of being charged for each lead individually, you can prefund your LeadSource account with a balance. Lead charges then come out of that balance until it runs out. This article covers how prefunding works, how to add funds, and when it makes sense

How prefunding works

You transfer money into your LeadSource account via ACH. We hold it as a credit balance. When a lead is delivered, instead of charging your card, we deduct from your balance.

Your balance shows at the top of the Billing page. You can also see it in the dashboard header.

When prefunding makes sense

You want to smooth out card statements. Instead of 50 small charges in a month, you get one larger transaction each time you top up.

You've had card issues before. A fraud flag on a $100 charge won't take down your campaigns if you have a $1,000 prefunded balance to draw from.

You're spending real volume. Once you're doing several hundred dollars a day in leads, prefunding is usually easier on both sides.

Your accounting is cleaner with one transaction. A single $5,000 ACH transfer is easier to bookkeep than 100 small card charges.

When prefunding might not make sense

You're just starting out. Until you know your lead volume, paying per lead from a card is simpler.

You like the granular receipts. Some contractors prefer the line-by-line transaction history that per-lead card billing creates.

How to add funds

Adding funds happens in two steps. The first one is a one-time setup. After that, every top-up is just an email.

Step 1 (one-time): Authorize Bank Transfers

  1. Go to Billing in your dashboard

  2. Click Authorize Bank Transfers

  3. Sign the ACH authorization form

Once signed, you're set up for future transfers without re-signing.

Step 2: Request a transfer

Email [email protected] and let our accounting team know the amount you'd like to transfer. They'll process the payment and the funds will land in your LeadSource balance.

ACH transfers take 2-5 business days to clear.

When your balance runs out

If your balance hits zero:

  • New leads won't be delivered

  • Active campaigns pause automatically

  • You'll get an email and a banner asking you to top up

Request another transfer and unpause your campaigns to get back live. Since transfers take 2-5 business days to clear, plan your top-ups ahead of when you'd actually run out, especially if you're seeing high lead volume.

A safety net: keep a card on file as a backup. That way if your balance runs low and the next ACH transfer hasn't cleared yet, lead charges will fall back to the card and your campaigns stay live.

Refunding a prefunded balance

If you decide prefunding isn't for you and want your remaining balance refunded back to your bank account, email [email protected]. We'll process the refund. Note that refunds can take 5-10 business days to appear depending on your bank.
